UFOs in the Arecibo National Radio Astronomy Observatory

We have previously published information about sightings of UFOs and incidents of encounters with their crew, given to us by residents in the sector where this important astronomical scientific center is located at. In this occasion we present here the declarations given to us recently by three more witnesses to such events, one citizen from the town of Utuado and two security officers who work in the Radio Observatory facility, who we interviewed while visiting the center together with an american couple, Mr. Douglas Taylor and his wife Serena, who live in California.

Large Craft and Flying Triangles

Mr. Felipe Jiménez, a resident of the town of Utuado, located in the centre of the Is-land of Puerto Rico, was an eyewitness to an incredible sight some years ago, between De-cember 1991 and January 1992.

He was forced to go late one night into Arecibo to get some goods for the company he worked for. He took road #10, that goes from Utuado to Arecibo and when he was already near the Alvarado Cattle Stock Farm in the sector known as Hato Viejo, he sud-denly saw a very big bright light. The time was about 1:30 am.

The huge UFO, and also the three triangular craft, had all appeared from the vicinity of the observatory.

Puzzled by the light, he stopped and tumed off his pick up vehicle's engine, and then, looking up, he saw something that startled him, at a height, as he thought of maybe 500 ft, or so.

    Here is his account on the event: "I stuck my head out of the window and looked up, and was astounded by what I saw. It was a fiying saucer as big as a stadium or a basketball park suspended there in the sky!

    "It had blue and yellow lights revolving all around of it. At that moment an am-bulance appeared on the road. The driver of it stopped near me and also began to watch it. I think it was a municipal ambulance from Utuado.

    "We were still watching that thing, and then suddenly I thought of checking to see what time it was and, looking at my watch, I found that whereas I had been thinking only five minutes had elapsed, in reality it had been 20! I just can't explain that difference in time.

    "Then I started up my vehicle and the driver of the ambulance did likewise, and he drove off fast and I couldn't keep up with him.

    "I got to Arecibo and picked up the stuff l had come for, and I met there another man who was also doing the same thing. The time was by now about 1:50 a.m., or a bit later. I knew this fellow already, and I said to him: "You won’t believe what I've just seen!" , and he answered "And you won 't believe what I've just seen either!"

    "So I asked him what was it he saw, and he said: 'When I was coming along the Expressway road from Lares to Arecibo I saw an enormous fiying saucer, very bright, with many lights'. And I said: 'Yes, I saw it too, but in the mountainous area, near the Arecibo Radio Observatory, as I was coming from Utuado".

    "We chatted about it for a bit, and on my way back along the same road where I had seen the UFO I suddenly spotted three more objects in the sky...but these were different, they were triangle-shaped, with their edges lit up, only their edges.

"They were flying in a tight formation of three - one in front and two behind - in the direction of Utuado.When they were above one of the peaks they suddenly vanished.And, what is most interesting is that right behind that mountain lies the Arecibo Observatory!

“The huge UFO, and also the three triangular craft, had all appeared from the vicinity of the observatory and were heading towards Utuado, and I am driven to wonder whether the personnel of the Observatory would not also have seen those flying objects!"

     And Jiménez went on to reveal something else: "Here in Utuado there is a man (na-me withheld due to the witness express wish) who works for the Electric Power Authority Agency and, on one of the jobs that he worked on near the Observatory he heard reports that a man from the Hato Viejo sector had seen something similar to what I saw, but had reported it to the autho-rities, after which several very well dressed individuals - apparently U.S. Federal Agents - had come to his house and had warned him sharply not to tell anybody a-bout what he had seen.

    "My personal opinion", continued saying Mr. Jiménez, "based on what I saw my-self, is that the scientists working at the Radio Observatory have possibly communicated or are possibly already in contact with the crews of these crafts, because there is such a high level of UFO sightings near the Observatory - and that cannot just be by mere chance.If just one isolated person had a sighting, it might indeed be a matter of chance, but when lots of people see these same things in the area, then I simply can't believe that!"

    In conclusion, Jiménez said: "All this worries me. Because, if it is really happening, why isn 't it made public? Because they (the authorities) fear originating a panic in the po-pulation maybe?Anyway, something's going on. And I am worried".

The first of them, officer Pedro Pérez, revealed to us that he had personally seen a “... very rare flying device” while driving his personal car on highway #635, leaving the zone of the Radio Observatory in direction to the town of Lares.

“It happened a little more to the south - he said -, south of the Radio Observatory area, not exactly above this site. I was with my son, and we both saw it. It was a quite large object, with a spherical shape, like a huge metallic sphere, silverplated, with a brightly po-lished surface. It was suspended up in the air, in the sky, totally motionless”.

He continued explaining: “It did not have any doors or windows, nor any motor or en-gine, nothing at all. It just remained there, suspended in the sky, and at one moment it made a sudden fast movement to the south and went away, and we lost it from sight”.
    According to Mr. Pérez, the large silver-plated metallic sphere he observed did not emit any sound, and as already explained, was totally fixed in the sky in a position close to the Radio Observatory facilities, until the moment for going away.

    “The so called OVNIs (UFOs) are real - he added -, we have seen them here, so I do not have any doubts about that any more.

        “However, we have to find out where they come from and who are those behind them “, said finally the security officer.

Spheres of light

        On the other hand, another one of the officers, Mr. Jose Vélez, declared to us that he has observed in several occasions “...some large mysterious spheres of light shining with a bluish-white hue, like that of light emmited from electrical arc welding”, which ap-proach the Radio Observatory and suspend themselves over the area, increasing and di-minishing their size.

    “For me - Vélez said - that growing and diminishing in size could very well be an op-tical effect, probably they are approaching and moving away and we perceive this as if they were growing in size or getting smaller”.

    “I have seen those spheres, those balls of light several times - he added -, and I ha-ve tried to explain to myself what they are, but definitively they are something non iden-tifiable, and they seem to be under an intelligent control”.

        Finally, we asked both officials if they had notified to the officials of the Radio Observatory about their sightings of such anomalous objects in the area, and they both res-ponded “No”.

They also responded to us when we asked them about it, that the scientific officers or directors of the Arecibo Radio - Astronomical Observatory have never prohibited them to speak out on the subject, but they also stated that as a matter of fact the UFO subject is not discussed there at all.
